Then you add maps for various parameters.if you don’t have a map, then the parameter will apply everywhere. Don’t forget that you never should click in the DW. Just type then press Enter key or Return key. Can you describe more precisely what tool you used before typing values in the Dimension Window (DW). AT the bottom right you shall see rectangular field with a word to its left that shall read Measurements. The Fundamentals are the building blocks for all your SketchUp models, covering the toolset, sharing tips and tricks for even the most basic functions.
Complete List of Keyboard Shortcuts
Again, focus on what you do and don’t be too concerned about what others do.When you find yourself repeating a command via the menus it’s a signal to assign a shortcut. I showed you how to do it in the other thread. Box showed it in his screen shot above and @ateliernab has shown it again. Download .skp or .stl files directly to your computer.
According to your profile you’re still using MacOS 10, the new graphics engine requires al least macOS 12, your gpu may not be supported as well. If you turn off all the parameters and have no maps, then… all you have is the initial picture. Just like previous sketchup versions. If I’m understanding you correctly. My top two images were rendered in Twilight.
Is there an ACTUAL free version of Sketchup for students and hobbyists?
This extension doesn’t seem to actually save an older version to be imported into other softwares it is still saved as a 2025 file. Maybe it works into older versions of sketchup, but not 3rd party softwares that require an older version. How much older does it need to be for the other application? If it’s anything after 2021 you don’t need to save to an older version.
When I open the 2018 version I just created with the extension SketchUp 2025 shows it as a 2018 file as expected. I just tried to use it this way to import into V-Carve which needs a sketchup version of 2018 or earlier, and it doesn’t work. If you already have SketchUp 2025 open, using an extension to save back to an earlier version is easier than opening in an older SketchUp version. The extension won’t count against your SketchUp activations, either. Does anyone know how you can save as to an older version of Sketchup.
If you are using SketchUp Free as indicated in your profile, the rbz files won’t help you out. You can look at the Quick Reference card to get an idea of the keyboard shortcuts. You can get the Quick Reference card from the link Geo provided. Didn’t see the response on the other thread. I AM talking about the web version. No option to save a file or export to STL. Only thing it does is open a window to either buy or cancel.
SketchUp Make 2017 : Download Links
For older versions than that, there are several extensions that will give you that capability. Then I spent some months where I was doing all my SU on the v18 beta, pin up casino so of course that was a parallel, vanilla installation and didn’t have those shortcut changes. I recently came across this site with a pretty good list of SketchUp keyboard shortcuts and I now use it all the time. Keep in mind it’s the commands that are important, not the particular shortcut keys I assigned to them.Don’t be too concerned about what others choose to do. The power of SU is you play your own game.Set things up to suit your individual workflow.
If the field is greyed out it means that irt is not ready to accept inputs. The files @Geo posted are plugins to be used in SketchUp Make or SketchUp Pro. The post you are referring to was made over three years ago; well before SketchUp Free was even mentioned. I thought F1 was a Windows hard-coded shortcut and would have expected that one to revert to Help since it is the standard Help shortcut for most programs. Oh well, it sounds like you’ve got it sorted out. Amazing what comes to us when we are almost asleep.
- Another very useful help ressource is the Instructor that you can get by opening its window. When you are done with it, simply close its window.
- Download .skp or .stl files directly to your computer.
- I’ve been away from SU for a while and just discovered that the “traditional” shortcut keys have been changed in SU ’18.
- Tried the same cube and my interface looks different with different options.
I have the Getting Started section open. FWIW, if the PDF contains vector linework and you want a .dxf from it, you could use Inkscape to create that line work. Inkscape is a free application and is useful for a number of things. However, the resolution might not be as good as a direct pdf import. Yer thats it, I try to install SU once i update to newer version.
Sketchup to Twinmotion
As you can see that information is useful to us in giving you guidance when you have questions. Copy the old materials folder over to 2025 and make it a collection / etc. Don’t use the PBR style and the PBR maps won’t be used. Maybe so, except you do not have to have two version of the file folders open at the same time (which I was not able to do).
- I am trying to import a pdf plan to sketchup and when I go to import the document it is not showing to attach it.
- Officially SketchUp Make 17 is no longer supported or made available for download.
- My top two images were rendered in Twilight.
- How much older does it need to be for the other application?
- I however took the materials folder out of 2025 for save keeping and replaced it with 2024 version.
If you need to input values in a different unit system, like meter or centimetre or inches or feet and inches, then you shall add the unit. For exemple, for a 2 feet by 4 feet rectangle, you would type 2’,4’ or 2’;4″ depending on you decimal separator setting. Please notice that you don’t need to click in the field. You only need to type required values and press the Return key or the Enter key to validate your input. Change the default F for Offset tool to O. True, “O” is preassigned to the Orbit tool, but if you use a three-button mouse you never need to use the Orbit tool anyway.
To me, keyboard shortcuts for these two commands are essential to efficient modeling. In the preference panel, under graphics, there is an option to automatically convert to PBR the materials. But you can turn it off, meaning new materials you create (and old ones from previous projects) will not have the PBR stuff.
Opened up 2025 and the 2024 materials showed up. Turn off the toggle for automatically converting to the new PBR materials (in preferences / settings menu, but I’m away from my computer). Create materials the old way, importing an image for example. Or by clicking the + in the material panel.
SketchUp Fundamentals (Desktop)
On this link you’ll find the release notes with all the new features of sketchup 2025. I am trying to import a pdf plan to sketchup and when I go to import the document it is not showing to attach it. Simply don’t activate metalics, roughness, normal or AO. You can also edit your material and turn all the maps off.
Exactly what do you mean by “exporting sketches”? I expect you are doing something wrong or you have incorrect expectations. You can download SketchUp files, PNG images, and STl files directly to your computer. You have only renewed your subscription, that does not imply that there is really an update. In the menu there is an option to search for updates, the process is automatic.
Downloading SketchUp 2025 upgrade
I did not click in the box, just drew a line and before clicking typed in the length that I wanted the line to go. And whenever I press enter, and it opens up the insert 3-D text dialogue instead of changing the line length. In you case it is now the time to enter a value. As I wrote before DO NOT click in the Dimension window, just type the required values.
You wrote this in another thread and I responded trying to help you. Whereever you download from, let Googles VirusTotal have a look on the stuff before downloading/launching. And caveat emptor applies if you do this. Who knows what unwanted stuff you might get with the download. Officially SketchUp Make 17 is no longer supported or made available for download. I now have SketchUp 2025 in my dock & in my applications folder.
